Peter has got himself quite the upgrade with this new rig, the Ibis Ripley 4. The Ripley has 120mm rear travel, 140mm front and rolls on 29" wheels. These numbers make it well suited to our Brisbane / South East QLD mountain bike trails. When that 120mm of rear travel is driven by the proven DW-Link and the bike is backed up with modern, agile geometry it makes for more than just a well suited bike. It is zippy and fun to ride with efficient yet confidence inspiring suspension. Paired with Peter's build of choice, its turned into one mighty fine bike.
Peter opted for a full Shimano XT build. Shimano may have been late to the 12 speed party but they have delivered upon arrival that's for sure. Matched with Shimano's powerful four piston XT brakes with their signature smooth lever feel a Shimano groupset is a great place to start for any custom mountain bike.
Keeping things smooth and sitting pretty is the Fox Factory series suspension, shock, fork and dropper. The complete package. Sitting proudly atop the gold throne the Renthal Fatbar carbon handlebar and Renthal Apex stem.
Working our way down we've got the We Are One Union / 101 carbon wheelset. Hand laid in Canada these rims look the part with a completely natural finish but better yet, they ride the part as well. Maxxis rubber front and rear to give the best possible grip on our loose and dusty Brisbane / QLD mountain bike trails... which are admittedly a little wetter now.
