Maxxis have been working in conjunction with Aussie pinner Troy Brosnan to make a rear tyre that can handle dry, loose terrain with confidence. Troy was the perfect partner to work with for this new tyre drawing from years of experience pushing the limits against the World Cup elite and his familiarity with loose, dry Australian terrain.
The Dissector utilises design aspects of the Maxxis Minion DHF, Rekon and High Roller II to create a well balanced tyre. The centre knobs are ramped strongly to encourage greater rolling speeds with a square rear to sink in when braking. For a smooth transition from centre to side when cornering there are small knobs in place before you reach the outer knobs for consistent grip as you lean the bike over. When you reach the outer knobs grip is maximised with a large, staggered knob pattern.
We see this is a great new addition to Maxxis's range especially with our often dry and loose MTB trail conditions across Brisbane and Australia. For a trail setup this could be used as a front and rear combo if you're after quicker rolling speeds however, we recommend a more aggressive tyre up front like the Assegai or Minion DHF if you're looking to maximise front wheel traction.
