FTR Race Team: QLD Enduro Round 1

Posted by Chris Dalziel on

The highly anticipated QLD Enduro race series made it's return on the weekend at Garapine. The race tracks were not spared from all the rain we've been receiving making for one of the muddiest Enduro races in recent memory. But, the show goes on and racers rose to the challenges of the messy conditions.

Cater Sloan put in a dominant performance in the under 17's with two stage wins while never finishing below 3rd in a stage. This gave him an impressive winning margin of over 30 second!

Next up the Under 21's. Will Hynes transfers his strong form in the DH nationals straight to the Enduro bike with consistently fast times across all stages giving him the win. His time was also the fourth fastest of the day across all categories.

Now for the Elite men! Hayden Wright is always strong on the pedals and has a history of good results at Garapine. A big effort on the 'Boneyard' stage put Hayden in 3rd for the stage before he finished out the day with a strong 7th place.

Ryan Leutton used his experience to put together a day of solid riding in the challenging conditions, sliding into 4th spot. Look for Ryan to use this consistency to rank highly in the series overall at the end of the season.

Closing things out Tim Abbott had a great day on the bike and excelled in the muddy conditions where others struggled. This was proven with the stage win on 'Dumb It Down' which is notorious for being hard in the wet with it's maze of roots and rocks. Tim finished the day in 3rd, his best QLD Enduro result to date!

Overall it was a great effort by the FTR race team and all riders at Garapine. We look forward to the next round at Kooralbyn.
